We live in a world that is more and more dependent on technology. The most popular websites, including Facebook, Google, and Amazon are all powered by coding. It’s even possible to order your groceries online from the comfort of your couch with just an app! There are many reasons why you should learn to code (or at least understand how it works), but here are three of the strongest:

Code looks scary, but actually, it’s quite simple.

1) You will be able to find employment opportunities easier

As mentioned before, coding is becoming an essential skill for any job seeker or employee these days. Not only can you use coding skills for a variety of jobs, but learning this skill opens up doors that would otherwise be closed to you.

By coding, you can automate your work, and this increases productivity. You can also use coding to create new things that don’t yet exist!

If you’re looking to start a business or just want more freedom in life, coding could be what gets you there. It’s not uncommon for people with coding skills to create their own companies, and soon enough they’re hiring more people with coding skills too.

2) Learning how to code will change the way that you view the world.

This is true for example for art or design majors who have to learn how to code in order to make their designs come alive on the screen. It’s a way of thinking that helps them see new and different perspectives, which has led many coders into careers they never would’ve guessed they’re suited for.

If you get an idea and you can code, you can make it. That’s worth a lot.

3) Learning to code can be a fun activity, and it might just become your next hobby.

Experiment with fractals, creating video games, coding music, or building an app.

You could make this in a few hours if you could code!

Learning coding can be hard and challenging, but it is also exciting and rewarding.

Did I make up your mind? Here are some ways to start.

  • Try making a website with HTML and CSS.
  • Try creating a simple app. (give a look to “MIT appinventor”)
  • Download an open-source code project and see how it works.

There are many benefits of learning how to code! Not only will it make your life easier (and probably a little bit cooler), but you’ll be able to accomplish things you couldn’t before.
